On the Senate floor this morning, Senate majority leader Harry Reid accused Mitt Romney of not paying taxes for 12 years.

"His father, George Romney, set the precedent that people running for president would file their tax returns, let everybody look at them," Reid said. "But Mitt Romney can't do that because he's basically paid no taxes in the prior 12 years."

UPDATE: At a press conference later in the day, Reid reportedly had more to say about Romney:

“He not only couldn’t be confirmed as a cabinet secretary, he couldn’t be confirmed as dog catcher,” Reid told reporters at a Capitol press briefing, in response to a question from TPM. “Because a dog catcher, you’re at least going to want to look at his income tax returns.”
